On November 3, 1973, it opened as the Sapporo City Museum due to the relocation of the courthouse.
When the museum first opened, it exhibited materials related to the Sapporo Olympics and literature related to Sapporo. Afterwards, the history exhibition room, local history consultation, city history compilation, and other cultural materials room (currently the Sapporo City Archives) moved to a new location, and in 2006, the Criminal Court Exhibition Hall was opened, a restored courtroom from the time of the Court of Appeals. A room was set up.
The Cuckoo Forest on the west side of the museum is a spot where you can take a break among the lush trees.
