This stylish building on the Hokkaido University campus is actually a convenience store familiar to Hokkaido called "Seico Mart." The store was designed with a new concept that is not bound by the concept of a typical convenience store, and features a woodgrain design that blends in with the campus. Part of the building is made of larch from Monbetsu City, Hokkaido, and they are particular about using "Hokkaido-made" materials.
Since it is open 24 hours a day, it is frequented by students who conduct research until late at night, as well as tourists.
Seico Mart also sells nutritious ice cream products, developed in collaboration with Hokkaido University, that are high in protein and perfect for those recuperating.
On the first floor there is an information center that serves as a public relations space to promote the attractions of Hokkaido University to local residents and tourists, and also sells souvenirs.
In warm seasons, the view from the terrace on the second floor is also amazing.
