The Sosei River's predecessor was Otomo-bori, an irrigation canal built in the Edo period, and in the early Showa period, the lakeside was crowded with circus huts and street stalls.
The bustling Soseigawa Park, which carries on that legacy, was opened in 2011 on both banks of the Soseigawa River.
The park has a total length of 820 meters, stretching from Minami 4-jo to Kita 1-jo, and has a promenade, and there are also stairs to get down to the water. The side of the promenade is decorated with lilac and is dotted with artwork by Eiki Danzuka using bricks. You can enjoy it like an outdoor museum. Each section has a different structure, so you can walk around without getting bored.
