It was newly built in 1998 (Heisei 10) and retains the appearance of the old building constructed in 1934 (Showa 9).
The former Central Police Station building was a representative reinforced concrete structure of the early Showa period and was selected as one of the "100 Best Sapporo Hometown Cultures," but it was demolished in 1996.
The current building, constructed on the site, has been reborn as a modern structure while retaining its old image, and its distinctive curved main entrance on the southeast corner of the building watches over and maintains the safety and security of Sapporo's people.
