This hotel was built near the Sapporo TV Tower in 1880 (Meiji 13) by the Hokkaido Development Commission.
Because the building was constructed by the Hokkaido Development Commission, it has a red star on it, just like the Hokkaido Prefectural Government Red Brick Building and the Sapporo Beer Garden.
In 1881 (Meiji 14), it was used as the Sapporo residence of Emperor Meiji during his visit to Hokkaido.
Since then, it has continued to play the role of a hotel and banquet hall representing the northern capital.

It was moved to Nakajima Park in 1958 (Showa 33).
After being popular among Sapporo residents as a wedding venue, it was reopened as a social facility in June 2016 after the lecture on preservation and restoration was completed.
Inside the building, there are architectural highlights such as the plaster ceiling decoration at the base of the chandelier,
There are plenty of things to see, including a replica of the guest room where Emperor Meiji stayed and a video about the history of Hoheikan.
We hope you will experience the glorious history of this place, which has been used in a variety of ways from the days of Hokkaido's development to the present day and has served as a place for people to socialize.
