Sapporo Children's Puppet Theater Koguma-za is Japan's first public theater specializing in puppetry, opened in 1976 in Nakajima Park.
The building with a humorous exterior was designed by Yoshiya Tagami, one of Hokkaido's leading architects.
Puppet shows are offered at a low price every weekend (every day during elementary school holidays), and most performances are open to the public even with infants.
Don't worry if your child makes a noise or is a little unsteady while watching the movie. Many puppet theater performances are less than 60 minutes long, making them easy for young children to enjoy.
