Official name is "Former Sapporo Agricultural School Enbujo"
It was built in 1888 as a facility for Sapporo Agricultural College, the predecessor of Hokkaido University, based on the concept of the first vice principal, Dr. Clark.
It was designated as a national important cultural property in June 1970. Although it has undergone several restoration projects, it continues to be loved as a tourist spot representing Sapporo City and as a clock tower that tells the time to the citizens.
