The historic brick building that can be seen from Kita 3-jo Street is truly a symbol of Hokkaido.
The building, affectionately known as the "Red Brick Government Building," served as the administrative center of Hokkaido for approximately 80 years until the new government building currently in use was completed.
The Red Brick Government Building, which is made of approximately 2.5 million bricks, is closed for renovation work until 2025 (Reiwa 7).
Currently, you cannot enter the building, but you can enjoy the changing seasons in the beautiful garden in the front yard.
