The historic brick building that can be seen from Kita 3-jo Street is truly a symbol of Hokkaido.
The building, affectionately known as the "Red Brick Government Building," served as the administrative center of Hokkaido for approximately 80 years until the new government building currently in use was completed.
約250万個のれんがが使われた「赤れんが庁舎」 は、2025（令和7）年7月24日までリニューアル工事のため休館している。
Currently, you cannot enter the building, but you can enjoy the changing seasons in the beautiful garden in the front yard.
