Sapporo Kita 3-jo Plaza Akapla is located between Sapporo Ekimae-dori, Sapporo's main street, and the Hokkaido Government Red Brick Office Building, a historic tourist attraction.
Kita 3-jo Street was built in the early Meiji period. At that time, it was named ``Sapporo Dori,'' and various institutions such as the Sapporo Agricultural College and the government-run factory of the Development Commission were gathered along the street that extended east.
In 1924, Sapporo's first paved road, wood block paving (roadway) and asphalt paving, was constructed in the section from the front gate of the Hokkaido Red Brick Office Building to Sapporo Ekimae Dori (extension 117.27m, roadway width 14.54m). (Sidewalk) was constructed.
