Beer brewing is one of the skills that foreigners brought to Sapporo for its development.
In 1876, Kaitakushi Beer Brewery, the predecessor of Sapporo Beer, was born.
This area is also said to be the birthplace of Japanese beer, as ``beer for Japanese people'' was brewed using Western techniques.
There is a shopping center called ``Sapporo Factory'' on the site of the former Sapporo Beer Factory, which has its roots in the Sapporo Kaitakushi Beer Brewery, where you can enjoy shopping.
Additionally, the Sapporo Kaitakushi Beer Brewery, a brick building with a large black chimney built in the Taisho era, still remains as a testament to its birthplace.
