It began in 1912 when the deity was invited from Sapporo Shrine (now Hokkaido Shrine) and enshrined within the premises of the Sapporo Beer factory in hopes of safety and prosperity.
He is currently enshrined as the guardian deity of the Sapporo Factory.
Next to it is a statue of Uemura Sumisaburo, one of the founders of Sapporo Beer, evoking the former appearance of the Soseigawa East area.
